MISSION
Since 2022, the ACUF (Algal Collection at the University Federico II) has been recognised as a Research Infrastructure of the University of Naples Federico II (Department of Biology). It provides scientific and technical services to the academic community as well as to public and private sectors, in the field of conservation, characterisation and valorisation of microalgal biodiversity.
The primary mission of ACUF is to preserve, study and make accessible its collection of microalgal strains from extremophilic environments, promoting their use for scientific research, biotechnological innovation and environmental sustainability.
As a research infrastructure, ACUF offers services in conservation, identification, strain supply, scientific consultancy and analytical support to research institutions, universities and companies.
In parallel, ACUF carries out scientific research in the fields of evolutionary biology, taxonomy, ecophysiology and biotechnological applications of microalgae. It also contributes to education and the third mission through training, dissemination and knowledge transfer activities.
The mission of ACUF is fully aligned with that of the University of Naples Federico II, promoting scientific excellence, sustainability and the enhancement of natural heritage within the life and environmental sciences.
